The paleo diet some nutritionist say is the best way to eat. The reason why some nutritionists believe that the Paleo (Paleolithic) diet is the only way to eat is simple… we as humans have been adapted to eat like cavemen for thousands of years. The modern diet many of us eat today is bad very bad… full of processed ingredients, chemical’s, colorings and preservatives, E numbers… trans fats… to name only some of the harmful and in some cases lethal ingredients found in our food today. Food manufactures dont just stop with adding ingredients with genetically modified food they are able to modify the food to how they want?Why do food manufactures do this to our food? Well to help preserve the food for longer.. increasing shelf life and food manufactures profits, to change the taste of food, to reduce calorie count in food and a whole bunch of other reasons. Genetically modified food is on the increase from crops to poultry just about everything is being genetically modified nowadays and it is a science that is unknown to scientists of the effects eating genetically modified foods can have on us. Some believe that because genetically modified foods create a smaller gene pool the food that has been crops or animals that have been genetically modified can pick up diseases and mutations more easily and some question whether or not these diseases or mutations could be passed onto us if we eat the genetically modified food.
In the last 100 years what we eat has drastically changed but us as humans haven’t. We are not really supposed to eat the vast amounts of sugar that we do eat… the problem is that people eat now on the go… ready meals for convenience… fast food because its cheap and snacks because it helps to fill us up instantly.
With so much wrong with the modern diet and with the simple fact that we aren’t adapted to eat such foods anyway isnt it more healthy to eat what our ancestors had been eating for thousands of years instead? Fresh organic meat and green vegetables.. with no sugar, chemicals preservatives and processed food in our diets?
On the other hand we do have more access to different kinds of foods which our ancestors did not have… for example we can eat different fruit from around the world all year long.. But the problem is that many do not choose to eat healthy and that we can eat a wide variety of healthy food that in paleolithic times wouldn’t be available but we just simply choose to eat unhealthy food for convince, expense and because we “think” it tastes good.
