It begins!

Today I am gonna try out my new resistance bands that I have bought from Nuovahealth (I chose those ones because well firstly because they were cheap and secondly they offer just enough resistance which I need) as part of my plan to get fitter and healthier for summer… I have tried all of this before last year but because I am so lazy I just simply gave up but this time I am quite determined not to…..before I didn’t have a mp3 player to listen to music and I really do need something to distract me and keep me entertained while I exercise either but now I did I haven’t ever used resistance bands but my friends who swears by them says they are amazing and such a easy exercise but will make your muscles ache afterwards which is what it is all about. Me I dont really get tired from exercising to much I just get bored that’s my biggest problem once I get bored I simply cannot concentrate and cannot focus on the exercise…. resistance bands are quick and easy to do and you can change what you do with them as well so hopefully I shouldn’t get bored doing them and give up. I am not just going to use resistance bands I think Resistance bands will help loosen up my body and get me warmed up and focused as I have to keep my mind and body guessing for the best workout so I am going to obviously going to do some weight training with bench press (I am not quite sure what weight I will be lifting yet not done weight in a long time) then I think I will then do some chin ups and dips……finishing off with a run outside somewhere no idea where….. I think all that sounds good to me and If I do this 3 times a week I should be fit and healthy in no time right? Good plan right?

Simple ways to run faster

Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to run faster? Running faster can help you out in a lot of situations like sports and athletics to running away from ugly people.
But it aint easy I tell you… here are a few things you can try to help you run faster… see if they help they helped me thats for sure!

Stick to training dont give up, it takes a lot of commitment and time to be a fast runner… even the professional runners like Usain Bolt dont just wake up one day fast it takes years of dedication but dont let this put you off! In the long run (excuse the dumb pun) training hard will keep you fit and healthy and you will be the best around.. remember most people nowadays are fat and ugly people.

Make sure when you run that you keep goals and time yourself to see you improvements this will keep you motivated and will help your track your progress so you dont slip and get lazy! It is a good idea to push yourself to run faster each time, trying to beat your fastest time is the only way to get faster and know it.

Make a schedule to help you train and keep on track (no i dont mean the running track but the….. oh never mind). Schedules are good because if you know when you are going to train you are less likely to stop and it will mean that you train enough each week and dont forget too.

When making your schedule remember to include rest days… your muscles need to rest to recover and repair… this will also help you to have enough energy for the new training day helping you too push yourself further.

Run with weight or uphill to help boost muscle strength.. running faster is all about power not endurance… for more power your muscles have to be bigger and stronger.. running up hills or with a rucksack that is quite heavy will help strengthen the leg muscles which will make you faster!

Good healthy balanced diet. A good healthy balanced diet is needed to help you stay healthy and full of energy which you will need to run.

Tips to avoid injury

It is important in your training that you try to avoid injury or pulling a muscle which can wreck your whole training schedule so what can you do?

Make sure that you have the right running technique.. good posture.. no slouching. Make sure that you are wearing comfortable and good fitting trainers when you run… buy some arch support or running insoles (Here a link for a good pair of insoles which I use when running) to help make sure that your feet are properly protected and supported as you run as  sustained shock and pressure in unnatural flat shoes can cause plantar fasciitis and other running foot, knee and led injury’s when you run. Insoles help to absorb shock and ease the pressure helping you to run faster. No excuses insoles are cheap but effective.

Stretching and warm ups are equally as important as failure to do them can lead to pulling muscles.. so do them and do them right!
